A flower, sometimes known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants (plants of the division Magnoliophyta, also called angiosperms). The biological function of a flower is to mediate the union of male sperm with female ovum in order to produce seeds. The process begins with pollination, is followed by fertilization, leading to the formation and dispersal of the seeds. For the higher plants, seeds are the next generation, and serve as the primary means by which individuals of a species are dispersed across the landscape. The grouping of flowers on a plant are called the inflorescence.
In addition to serving as the reproductive organs of flowering plants, flowers have long been admired and used by humans, mainly to beautify their environment and sometimes a source of food.
The selection of flowers and decorative plants at the Cedargreen Nursery is outstanding. We've got all types, and our stock rotates and grows year-round. Come by Tuesday through Friday 10-5 and Saturday 9-5 to check out our entire store! |

Trees are perennial woody plants that have many secondary branches supported clear of the ground on a single main stem or trunk with clear apical dominance. A minimum height specification at maturity is cited by some authors, varying from 3 m to 6 m; some authors set a minimum of 10 cm trunk diameter (30 cm girth). Compared to most other plants, trees are long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old and growing to up to 400 feet high!
Trees are an important component of the natural landscape because of their prevention of erosion and the provision of a weather-sheltered ecosystem in and under their foliage. Trees also play an important role in producing oxygen and reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as well as moderating ground temperatures. They are also elements in landscaping and agriculture, both for their aesthetic appeal and their orchard crops (such as apples). Wood from trees is a building material, as well as a primary energy source in many developing countries. As of 2005, there were approximately 400 billion trees on Earth, about 61 per person.
Our selection of trees at the store is limited only by space, but we can order nearly any type of tree-type plant you want. In addition, the expert staff at Cedargreen Landscaping are very experienced horticulturists and can plant and maintain any type of plant you could imagine. A shrub or bush is a horticultural rather than strictly botanical category of woody plant, distinguished from a tree by its multiple stems and lower height, usually less than 5-6 m (15-20 ft) tall. A large number of plants can be either shrubs or trees, depending on the growing conditions they experience. Small, low shrubs such as lavender, periwinkle and thyme are often termed subshrubs.
An area of cultivated shrubs in a park or garden is known as a shrubbery. When clipped as topiary, shrubs generally have dense foliage and many small leafy branches growing close together. Many shrubs respond well to renewal pruning, in which hard cutting back to a 'stool' results in long new stems known as "canes". Other shrubs respond better to selective pruning to reveal their structure and character.
Shrubs in common garden practice are generally broad-leaved plants, though some smaller conifers such as Mountain Pine and Common Juniper are also shrubby in structure. Shrubs can also be either deciduous or evergreen.
The shrub and bush selection at the Cedargreen Nursery is varied and expansive, and if we don't have what your looking for in stock, our staff can easily order nearly any variety of plant you want. Come by Tuesday through Friday 10-5 and Saturday 9-5 to check out our full selection. |
